kitchen organization

Do you enjoy an organized kitchen? I’ve lived with several small kitchens, including one so compact we stored bulk pantry items, extra pots and bakeware in the basement because there simply wasn’t any space left. Still, I’ve always enjoyed the challenge of making a small kitchen work efficiently.

I’m not obsessive about organizing — I just want things to be easy to find. I love being able to open a cabinet without worrying that something will tumble out. Life is stressful enough without those little kitchen catastrophes, don’t you agree?

If you’re getting hurt reaching into crowded cabinets, muttering as you search for things, or buying duplicates because you can’t find what you already own, it’s time to bring some order to your kitchen.

Several readers have asked me to photograph the inside of my cabinets and drawers so they can see how I store items behind closed doors, inside drawers and in baskets. I’ll be sharing those pictures soon—people are curious, and I’m happy to show how I make the most of limited space.

In the meantime, here are five simple, affordable tips I shared for kitchen organization over at The Decluttered Home. Try them and see what a difference small changes can make.
