Do you want encouragement and inspiration to discover your own authentic decorating style? You don’t need a large budget, a perfect house, or the ability to copy someone else’s look to begin creating a beautiful, personal home. You can start now, using what you already have and letting your life guide your choices.
I began The Inspired Room in 2007 because I believe everyone deserves a lovely home. At the same time, I think homes should reflect the people who live in them, not be carbon copies of trends or other people’s tastes. Following someone else’s idea of beauty can be discouraging—what looks great in a magazine or on a blog might not suit your home, your family, your budget, or your schedule. You don’t need perfect lighting, a professional camera, or a designer budget to create a space you love.
We are all at different points in our homemaking journeys. When we accept where we are right now, we open ourselves to inspiration from everyday life and can begin applying simple ideas to our homes.
That sense of contentment—paired with the desire to make your space feel like home despite limitations—is where an authentic home begins.
When you set aside the excuses—”my home is too small,” “I live in an apartment,” “I don’t have the right furniture,” “I don’t have enough money,” or “I’m moving soon”—and let your life inform your decor, your home will start to reflect who you are. You’ll feel more comfortable and connected to your space, and you may even rediscover love for the home you have, whether it’s temporary or forever.
For more than five years I’ve written about finding and shaping a home that feels true to the people who live in it. I share practical ideas, small changes with big impact, and encouragement to help you embrace and improve the home you have right now.
To make that easier, I’ve gathered a new “Decorating Style Tips” gallery from The Inspired Room archives. This curated collection organizes helpful articles and ideas so you can find inspiration and practical guidance more quickly. I’m excited about this resource because it brings together posts that can spark fresh thinking and provide doable steps toward creating a home that’s uniquely yours.
These posts are designed to offer realistic tips, creative inspiration, and a new perspective on how to approach decorating without pressure. You can make meaningful progress with simple, thoughtful decisions.
I’ll keep adding new and older posts to the gallery so the collection continues to grow and inspire. You can also explore other themed galleries, including homemaking and organization tips and seasonal decorating ideas, via the links in the sidebar.
Enjoy the gallery and trust that, step by step, you can shape a home that reflects who you are.
