Can you believe Mother’s Day is only a couple of weeks away? If you’re planning something special, hosting a brunch is always a crowd-pleaser. My family loves to make breakfast together, so we often host casual holiday brunches. We had one on Easter and are planning another for Mother’s Day. Honestly, we don’t wait for special occasions — any ordinary morning is a great excuse for waffles and good company.

Last week, I pulled the waffle iron out from the basement and invited the girls over. It was a relaxed morning with no big agenda, so it turned into a perfect pre-Mother’s Day brunch.

A few days earlier we stopped into World Market to browse and discovered a beautiful collection of blue-and-white linens and tableware. The color palette felt fresh and timeless, so we picked up several pieces that inspired our table setting. It turned out to be the perfect timing — setting the table became one of the highlights of the morning.

The mix of blues, whites and natural textures felt just right for our home. I especially fell in love with the dinnerware.

I have to tell you how much I LOVE the dishes!

The bowls are the perfect size for so many meals — we used them for yogurt bowls this time, but they’ll be great for rice bowls with avocado, chickpeas, sweet potato and more.

The plates have a satisfying weight and a soft, subtle pattern that makes the table feel thoughtfully styled.

The wood-handled flatware, woven napkin rings, and a wooden cutting board brought an organic warmth that pairs beautifully with the blue-and-white palette.

For the centerpiece we used a wood bowl and a few faux succulents and plants, which made assembling an attractive display fast and fuss-free—perfect for busy mornings.

We also picked up patterned bowls with tight-fitting lids, handy for microwaving or storing leftovers, and some heavy, pretty juice glasses that felt like a special touch for the table.

One standout find was a set of handmade serving bowls. They looked and felt artisanal, adding a unique, personal element to the spread.

I also refreshed the banquette with new throw pillows, including a few textured and velvet options that complement the woven chairs.

Earlier in the season we moved the dining table and banquette to a different side of the room. Although we loved the cozy spot near the window, I kept picturing the table on the opposite wall. The change felt right, and it allowed the glass-doored cabinet to be relocated to the bedroom, where it adds a cozy, library-like atmosphere.

Sometimes it’s tempting to stick with what feels normal, but moving these pieces around reminded me to trust my instincts. We measured carefully and, happily, the cabinet fit perfectly in the bedroom. Seeing it there confirmed the swap was the right choice.

With the cabinet moved, the banquette and table found their ideal spots, and the room finally feels balanced. I’ve even been dreaming about rearranging the living room next—there’s always a new way to make a space feel fresh.
