I recently discovered a charming coastal home in Edgartown on Martha’s Vineyard featured in New England Home. Although I love life in the Pacific Northwest and don’t plan to leave, the relaxed, shingled-house aesthetic of Martha’s Vineyard has a definite appeal—quiet streets, weathered gray exteriors, and classic New England charm.
I haven’t had the chance to visit Martha’s Vineyard yet, though I’ve traveled to several East Coast states. Still, so many of the homes that catch my eye online are located on Martha’s Vineyard, Nantucket, or Cape Cod. There’s something about the soft palettes, natural textures, and simple, coastal elegance that feels like the kind of place I would enjoy.
Even if it’s unlikely I’ll ever own a summer home there or move to a shingled cottage on the island, imagining life in a place like this is a pleasant daydream. The relaxed pace, the sun-bleached shingles, and interiors that balance comfort with restrained coastal style make for an inviting vision.
Have you spent time in that area or lived there? I’d love to hear about your experience.
