GI want every flickering candle and a warm, cozy atmosphere right now. It’s been a busy year, and I’m craving small comforts and mood-boosters more than ever.

Some time ago I added metal candle sconces to my fireplace wall and a few other spots around the house. They’ve become part of our daily routine now that daylight fades so early. We like them so much that I decided to add a special set to the dining room as well.

I briefly considered installing wired sconces, but when I found these charming star candle holders I couldn’t resist. They’re the perfect mix of charm, affordability and ease — simple to hang and very striking on the wall.

I’m a little obsessed with the glow of candlelight this season. For safety and peace of mind we use battery-operated candles. When we want added scent, we prefer essential oils over synthetic fragrances. I’ve settled on a set of battery taper candles that feel very realistic — the flame flickers naturally and they’re convenient to operate with a remote control. Right now the sconces hold deep red tapers that are muted rather than glaring. I also keep black and ivory taper options on hand so I can switch styles depending on the room or mood.

Each evening, and anytime it’s dark during the day, I walk through the house turning on lights and candles. The result is a cozy, comforting and romantic atmosphere that makes our home feel like a refuge.

How are you making your home feel cozier these days?

If you’ve wanted wall sconces but don’t have wiring or dislike visible cords, there are elegant solutions that avoid messy lamp cords. Rechargeable bulbs and battery sconces offer clean, low-maintenance lighting without permanent wiring.

The light quality from rechargeable or battery-operated fixtures can transform a space, giving you the look of wired lighting with the convenience of plug-free installation.
