Dream Bathroom Ideas vs. Simple Refresh: Which Upgrade Is Right for You?

Williams and Spade: Jeanne Racioppi, Williams & Spade Interior Design

I came across this stunning bathroom while hunting for remodeling ideas, and it stopped me in my tracks. The sink, the ceiling, the brick floor softened by a small rug—everything about it feels both bold and welcoming.

For a long time I’ve been collecting ideas to update my master bathroom. Although I planned to refresh rooms over time to reflect what I love, our plans to possibly move made me rethink a full renovation. Since the house is relatively new and the bathroom still functions well, a lighter approach—fresh paint, new accessories, and a few thoughtful details—seems like the right choice for now. While a dramatic overhaul like the photo would be dreamy, sometimes a simple, targeted refresh gives a room new life without a major project.

At last, it’s time to tackle the last space that needs a refresh in our home: the master bathroom.

This week I’ll share a before photo and the ideas I’m using for a straightforward makeover. My goal is to finish within a couple of weeks—if I actually start. So I’m setting the computer aside and getting to work. Consider this the official challenge: computer off, bathroom refresh on.

What room have you been dreaming about updating, but haven’t started yet? What small changes would make the refresh feel achievable?

PS: I’ll also be sharing updates soon for the backyard, the gathering room, and the dining room—stay tuned for those projects.
