If you enjoy wandering through charming seaside towns and touring beautiful homes, today’s “Out to See” tour will be a treat. Whether you like armchair travel, are planning a vacation, or considering a move to the Pacific Northwest, we’re excited to share our recent visit to one of our favorite coastal towns in Washington.
We’ll also take you through a new home community in Poulsbo called Blue Heron by Tri Pointe Homes. Poulsbo sits on the shores of Liberty Bay on the Kitsap Peninsula, surrounded by water and mountains—an ideal escape that still feels conveniently close to the city.

Poulsbo is a Quaint Seaside Destination
With a charming marina, Scandinavian-inspired storefronts, antique shops, cozy coffee houses and a variety of restaurants, Poulsbo makes a perfect weekend getaway. It’s also the kind of place many people fall in love with and never want to leave. A short ferry ride from Seattle, Poulsbo feels worlds away from the city’s hustle while providing easy access to urban amenities when needed.
Having lived on the peninsula for six years, I can say from experience that Poulsbo is a place where many people choose to settle and feel at home.
Below I’ll share some of my favorite things about Poulsbo and show you inside homes at Blue Heron, a new neighborhood by Tri Pointe Homes.

We often get questions about the pretty coastal towns in this part of the Northwest, and Poulsbo is consistently a favorite. Although we no longer live on the peninsula (we’re now on a nearby island), we have many fond memories there and it remains an easy and enjoyable day trip. Living in this region feels a bit like being on vacation most days because of the abundance of coastal towns to explore.
Poulsbo’s Nordic charm has earned it the nickname “Little Norway.” The town is full of local breweries, coffee shops, boutiques, and antique stores. If you love boating, kayaking, or sailing, you’ll appreciate Poulsbo’s waterfront lifestyle and marina.

Poulsbo is a Wonderful Community to Live In
Poulsbo is a lovely place to visit and an even better community to live in. Surrounded by some of the most beautiful scenery in the Northwest, it offers a peaceful small-town atmosphere while still being within reach of larger metro areas.
Blue Heron, a new development by Tri Pointe Homes, sits close to town and offers thoughtfully designed homes in a serene setting. During our visit we appreciated the open feel of the neighborhood, nearby farmland with white fences, and mature surroundings that contribute to a relaxed pace of life.
Blue Heron appeals to those seeking a quieter lifestyle without sacrificing convenience. The neighborhood is across from a public school and within a short drive of shopping, farmer’s markets, grocery stores and restaurants. There’s even a nearby Costco we used to frequent.
Blue Heron is currently selling new homes, offering an opportunity to move into a freshly built community with a range of personalization options and flexible floor plans. We took photos during our tour to give you a sense of the homes and finishes available.

Put Down Roots in Poulsbo and Make a New House Your Home
Tri Pointe Homes Amenities and Personalizing Your Home
Homes at Blue Heron range from three to six bedrooms, giving buyers flexibility for home offices, study areas, workout rooms or extra living space. Tri Pointe Homes includes an award-winning Design Studio that allows buyers to personalize finishes and layouts to reflect their tastes and needs.
Moving into a new, personalized home is an exciting opportunity to create a space tailored to your family. Beyond design choices, furnishing and styling a brand new home make it feel uniquely yours.

The homes we toured were filled with large windows and abundant natural light. Backyards offered space for relaxing, grilling, and family time. The neighborhood includes a community park and playground, sidewalks, and charming street lighting—details that help create a welcoming environment and encourage daily walks and neighborly interaction.
If you’re dreaming of a new home, or curious about life in Poulsbo and the Pacific Northwest, Blue Heron is a community worth exploring.

Travel between Poulsbo and Seattle (and Nearby Islands) by Ferry
The ferry system is a beloved part of life here. Taking a ferry to Seattle, to nearby islands, or just for a scenic outing is part of the romance of living on the peninsula. Ferries make travel enjoyable and accessible, and they’re a convenient option for hybrid workers who work from home but need to commute occasionally.
If you prefer to drive, Poulsbo also offers road access to Tacoma, Seattle, and even farther destinations like Portland. The location provides flexibility: commute by ferry when you want, or drive when it’s more convenient.

Visiting Poulsbo and Nearby Day Trips
Whether you’re considering a move or simply planning a visit, Poulsbo offers both charm and easy access to nearby destinations. Our family spent many afternoons in town shopping, grabbing coffee, and attending community events like Fourth of July celebrations by the water—events that highlight Poulsbo’s strong community spirit.
Poulsbo is also a great base for day trips. You’re within a short drive or ferry ride of Port Townsend, Port Gamble, Bainbridge Island and other scenic towns. From Port Townsend you can catch ferries to additional islands and even cross-border routes. Whidbey Island is another lovely nearby destination for a day trip or weekend getaway.
The Kitsap Peninsula truly offers a wonderful range of outdoor activities—parks, forests, trails, and waterfront access—all close to Poulsbo.
We hope you’ll have a chance to visit Poulsbo and explore the new homes at Blue Heron.
