Hey friends! I hope you had a lovely Easter. We attended church together and then hosted an Easter brunch at our house with the kids and, of course, the dogs.
It’s always lively when all the doodles join in.

Getting every dog in one photo can be a real challenge, but we found a method that worked surprisingly well.
The pups can look bigger than the kids in pictures, but our dogs range from about 30 to 45 pounds, so they’re not as huge as they appear—especially Lily being held by Courtney. Courtney’s petite, and Lily looked ready to make a getaway.
If you want more doodle photos, check their social feeds for lots of cute snapshots.

Our table decor this year was simple and springy. I used a vase I picked up at HomeGoods a while back and filled it with velvet flowers that feel perfectly seasonal.

The day was pretty relaxing aside from the usual dog commotion.

I attempted to wrangle the dogs so I could sit and chat, but mostly they wanted to be the center of attention.

They do love being the focus—snoots, tails, and all.

To simplify food prep we ordered gluten-free vegan quiche from a local restaurant and baked it at home. It was delicious, though a bit pricey—the crust was especially good.
I’m still learning gluten-free, plant-based cooking, so if you have a reliable gluten-free vegan crust recipe, I’d appreciate suggestions. Transitioning to this diet hasn’t been as hard as I feared.

Kylee prepared a fresh salad with kale, arugula, radish, cucumber, cherry tomatoes, red onion, avocado, basil, sunflower seeds, and pumpkin seeds. Her dressing of olive oil, lemon, white wine vinegar, Dijon, and a touch of maple syrup was perfect.
She consistently makes flavorful plant-based dishes; if you follow her social feed you’ll often see what she’s cooking.

Courtney made a maple-sweetened strawberry rhubarb crisp that was gluten-free and vegan. We served it with vanilla bean non-dairy ice cream—delicious. This crisp is sure to become a new tradition; I’d happily have it every day.

After brunch the kids (and Jack) played a card game called Dixit. It was sweet watching them enjoy the game together.
