I believe a home should reflect who you are and the life you want to live, but even more important is designing a daily life that supports how you want to feel.
The way we arrange our environment and routines directly affects our emotional and physical well-being. Intentionally shaping your home and habits is an opportunity to boost overall health and happiness.
Pause and consider how you want to feel each day. Do the choices you make support those feelings and goals?

Do you want to feel frazzled, stressed, overwhelmed, tired, or run down? Or would you rather feel peaceful, inspired, strong, accomplished, and joyful?
This year I’ve been more deliberate about daily decisions. I don’t only think about them—I ask hard questions and take action, even when it’s difficult.
Am I creating enough boundaries to rest, play, and recharge?
Am I saying no to things that pull me away from my goals or compromise my health?
Am I showing up for others while neglecting my own care?
Knowing what to do is one thing; actually doing it is another. It’s easy to delay self-care or place it low on the priority list—I’ve certainly been guilty of that. Even during seasons when I felt well, procrastinating on self-care crept back in. I’ll share more on that soon.
Today I want to share a self-care ritual that’s helped me slow down and take better care of myself.
I’ve always loved turning my bathroom into a spa-like space, even though my current bathroom still has a vintage 1950s pink-and-mint palette. But a restorative bath didn’t always make it to the top of my to-do list.

When my naturopath recommended detox baths for times I felt run down, I made weekly baths a priority. In our modern world, our bodies absorb toxins from cosmetics, personal-care items, and household cleaners. A simple detox bath can support your body’s natural elimination processes while providing deep relaxation.
Treat this ritual as dedicated time for yourself. Turn off the internet, dim the lights, light a few candles, and play soft music. Use the time to breathe, unwind, and focus on your well-being.
There are many variations of detox bath recipes; there’s no single right way. The important part is using pure ingredients—choose high-quality Epsom salts without additives and pure essential oils without fillers. Many commercial bath products contain artificial colors and fragrances that can be counterproductive, so avoid them.
To take the bath, fill the tub with water as hot as you can safely tolerate. Soak for about 20 minutes with your head above water. When you’re done, wrap yourself in a warm robe and aim for a restful night’s sleep.
Detox Bath Recipe:
2 cups of quality Epsom salts
1/2 cup baking soda
10–20 drops of your favorite pure essential oil (lavender or a calming blend are lovely)
Stir to combine and add to hot running water so the salts dissolve.
I like to use a bath pillow for extra comfort. If you use additional non-toxic products such as a simple, clean massage oil or a natural bath bomb from a trusted source, they can enhance the experience—but avoid anything with synthetic fragrances or unnecessary additives.
Enjoy this ritual and let it be a weekly reminder to prioritize rest and renewal.
This detox bath post is part one of a self-care series. More daily self-care ideas and reflections will follow.
