BBe honest: how do you really feel about the coming season? Are you eager for fall, or do you notice some anxiety or fear beneath the surface? It’s completely normal to feel a mix of emotions. This fall feels different for many of us. Beyond the usual concerns—colder weather, shorter days, or the effects of seasonal change—there are added challenges we’re all processing this year.
My focus for the year and for this blog is “A Year of Dwelling Well.” When I shared that intention I couldn’t have predicted everything the year would bring, but the idea of dwelling well remains central to how I want to live.
How can we dwell well this fall?
We can shape our homes to nurture us—mind, body, and spirit.
We can arrange our spaces to encourage joy and comfort in our daily surroundings.
We can appreciate simple pleasures and cultivate gratitude for them.
We can find small ways to feel more connected to our home and to the people we love.
We can create cozy retreats that offer solace when the outside world feels harsh.
We can build routines and seasonal rhythms that bring calm and steadiness amid the busyness around us.
We can maintain a healthy environment so our home is not only beautiful but also inviting and safe for those who live there.
Welcome to Fall Nesting this year. I’m so glad you’re here—through this series I hope to encourage and inspire you.
P.S. My thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected by the fires, especially friends and family in Oregon.
