Ihave been craving sunshine — and today it finally felt like summer. With warmer days ahead, I refreshed the dining room and set it up for a bright spring or Easter brunch. Changing a few accessories can quickly shift the mood of a room, and mixing existing pieces with a few new finds is one of my favorite ways to make a space feel renewed.

Small succulent arrangements add a natural touch of green to the table and are a fun alternative to a traditional bouquet. I shared a simple succulent garden idea for the kitchen before, and they work beautifully as table accents.

Recently a friend sent a few new plates that inspired this spring brunch. Brunches are a favorite of mine — along with sunshine and charming dishes. These cheerful plates, along with a small pitcher, chalkboard signs, and a four-part server, brought a playful, whimsical feel to the table that suits the season.

The pieces add a lighthearted touch to the room, which feels just right after a long winter. A colorful, happy setting can lift spirits and make everyday life feel a little brighter.

Last fall I gave the dining room a fresh coat of Dove White paint, a step toward my eventual goal of paneled white walls. Even as I work toward that vision, small updates like new tableware and simple décor are helping me build the casual, cheery dining room I pictured.

Our home is informal and full of daily activity, so entertaining tends to be relaxed and practical. The dining room houses our only table, so it serves multiple purposes: a spot for meals, a place to hang out, and a gathering area for guests. On weekends the family often gathers here, and a casual spring brunch is a popular way for us to spend time together.

These colorful pieces pair well with my existing plates and serving dishes, and mixing them in helps create an eclectic, inviting table. Layering familiar items with new accents is an easy way to refresh a space without a complete overhaul.

It’s the little things that remind me to live a grateful life.
I hosted a giveaway featuring items from this cheerful line. Three winners were invited to choose a selection of pieces, and I enjoyed seeing readers share what they love and how they practice gratitude in daily life.
The winners selected were:
Sharon McGuire
Kathleen Grace of Kathy’s Cottage
Diane of An Extraordinary Day
Congratulations to all the winners, and thank you to everyone who joined in celebrating a brighter, more cheerful season.
