Welcome to the Love Your Home Challenge — Spring 2016! I’m so excited you’re joining this 31-day journey. Let’s consider today Day One and get started. These simple, bite-sized tasks are designed to help you transform small areas of your home, practice gratitude for what you already own, and rediscover the joy of where you live.
Each Sunday I’ll post a weekly list of challenges here. If you use Instagram, follow @theinspiredroom where I’ll share each day’s prompt and show examples. If you post, tag your photos with #loveyourhomechallenge so others can find and be inspired by your progress. If you don’t use Instagram, you can share on the community site Home Love Stories or simply leave a comment below to tell me how it’s going.
Committing to a little daily progress is one of the easiest ways to make your home feel refreshed and more enjoyable. Doing these prompts together creates momentum and encourages creativity, so I hope you’ll follow along and have fun!
Below are the first seven days of challenges:

Day 1 – Home Gratitude: Start a dedicated gratitude journal for the Love Your Home Challenge. Leave it where you’ll see it and add at least one note each day about something you appreciate in your home.
Day 2 – Declutter: Choose one drawer and declutter it completely. Empty it, sort what belongs back in, and remove anything unnecessary. Organize what remains and enjoy the small victory.
Day 3 – Less Is More: Identify the surface in your home that attracts the most clutter. Clear it entirely, clean and polish the surface, and keep it tidy. Share a before-and-after if you can.
Day 4 – Make It Pretty: Give the kitchen sink area extra attention. Wash and put away dishes, polish the sink and faucet, wipe countertops, and replace or freshen a dish towel. Small touches make the space feel cared for.
Day 5 – Delight Your Senses: Make your home smell and feel fresh. Open a window, wash sheets and towels, take out the trash, vacuum, and dust. Finish with a candle, essential oil, or a batch of something delicious baking in the oven.
Day 6 – Embrace Memories: Hunt for photos, ticket stubs, letters, and other small mementos tucked away. Find a simple, attractive way to display or contain them so those memories become part of your daily life.
Day 7 – Your Sanctuary: Refresh your bedroom. Make the bed, clear nightstands, and add a small new item or repurpose something from another room to brighten the space and make it feel like a restful retreat.
Have fun and let me know how your week goes!
