Hi friends! Michaela here with my monthly entertaining ideas. It’s mid-November and Thanksgiving is just around the corner. I wanted to share a simple, elegant tablescape idea for Thanksgiving dinner along with an easy DIY place card you can make in minutes to add a personal touch to your table.
Materials: mini canvases (craft stores), black marker, gold paint, paintbrush.
Step 1: Write each guest’s name on a mini canvas with the black marker. Allow the ink to dry completely.
Step 2: Lightly brush gold paint across the canvas, adding subtle metallic highlights over the lettering for a polished look.

I like to prop these canvas name cards against an ivory pumpkin. White and ivory pumpkins feel timeless and transition effortlessly from autumn decor into Thanksgiving without looking seasonal in a Halloween way.
For this tablescape I used a gold runner as a base, mixed candlestick styles, and added fall-toned candles for warmth. Larger pumpkins sprayed in metallic gold and silver create a festive centerpiece. Natural placemats, classic china, and a combination of wine glasses and gold-rimmed goblets complete each place setting. Finish the look with gold flatware and a cloth napkin for an elevated, cohesive table.

Notes: Most of the items shown were gathered from around the home or sourced affordably, showing that a beautiful Thanksgiving table doesn’t require a big budget. Mixing metallics—gold and silver together—adds sparkle and modern interest. Use what you have and incorporate a few standout pieces, like a metallic pumpkin or a special set of candlesticks, to create a cohesive look.
These small touches—handwritten canvas place cards, layered textures, and mixed metals—make guests feel welcomed and create a memorable holiday tablescape. I hope this inspires you to try a simple DIY and set a warm, festive table for Thanksgiving.
xoxo
