Kylee here with an update on our primary bedroom and attic suite. If you follow me on Instagram, you know this room has been a work in progress since we moved in last summer — check my saved bedroom highlight to catch up.
We recently finished installing beautiful hardwood flooring and found the coziest bedding, so I wanted to share a peek at how the room is coming together.
Here was the room when we first moved in:

The room started as a blank slate with white walls and old gray carpet. We wanted to make it feel warmer and more intentional with paint and new flooring. I’m not a fan of wall-to-wall carpet, partly because of allergies, so solid wood floors that match the original flooring in the rest of the house were our plan.

We started painting right away, but the floors were delayed. A few weeks ago the hardwood finally went in and we are thrilled — they completely transformed the room’s atmosphere.

There’s still a bit more to do before the room feels completely finished. I’m on the lookout for a rug, some artwork, and bedside reading sconces. That said, rooms often evolve over time — but after months of feeling like we were “squatting” until the floors arrived, it finally feels like a cozy place to call our own.
I’ll share more angles and before-and-after details in the coming weeks, but today I wanted to give a quick update on the flooring and new bedding. Progress posts are my favorite — hopefully you enjoy them too.

We debated bedding for months, trying and returning several options. We’ve typically chosen patterned, colorful sets, but nothing felt quite right this time. Ultimately we decided on classic all-white bedding to create a calm, hotel-like feel. The white makes the bed feel fresh, clean, and relaxing — a new but welcome change for us.
Quality bedding is a priority here — after all, you spend about a third of your life in sheets. We’d heard great things about Brooklinen, so we took advantage of their birthday sale and are very happy with our choice.
We selected the Luxe Hardcore Bundle, which offers savings over buying items separately. The bundle includes a flat sheet, fitted sheet, two sets of pillowcases, and a duvet cover, with options to mix and match styles and patterns.
Although I was tempted by a few patterns — I loved the Oxford Stripe — white felt right in the end. These are the softest, most buttery sheets we’ve owned. My husband wakes up every morning saying it feels like sleeping on clouds, and I completely agree.
Beyond the feel, I appreciate the thoughtful details in the bedding. The sheets are labeled with short-side/long-side tags, which is especially helpful on a king bed. The duvet cover includes corner ties to keep the insert in place, and the pillowcases have envelope closures for a neat, finished look.

Leo approves too, which matters since we bought a king-sized bed after he joined our family so we’d all fit comfortably.
If you’re shopping for new bedding, I highly recommend Brooklinen. We took advantage of a major sale and were thrilled with the quality, comfort, and attention to detail.
