I’ve shared this lovely kitchen before — my friend Heather Bullard’s beautifully remodeled space. I’m showing it again because its layout is almost exactly like mine. The difference is that mine isn’t white yet, and it doesn’t feel as finished or as personal — at least not yet.
The similarity is in the floor plan: the stove and microwave sit in the same places. Beyond that, our kitchens tell different stories.
My space is still a standard builder design; Heather’s reflects her personality in every detail. Still, I have plans. I’m adding glass-front cabinets and arranging dishes the way she did.
Yes, even though they’ll be near the stove. Tsk tsk. I live on the edge, don’t I?
I admit I’ll risk a little splatter and grease if it means seeing those dishes on display daily. The small chance of mess is worth the joy of living with things that make my heart happy.
Isn’t that part of living a beautiful life? Choosing to surround yourself with beauty, even if the everyday tasks of life carry some risk of wear. For me, beauty in the home matters — it uplifts the ordinary moments.
What are you waiting for? Live a little. I dare you.
It’s Beautiful Life Friday!
If you’ve been following along, you know I’ve turned many pages over the last couple of years — some exhilarating, some exhausting. We lost a job and went through a long season without steady income. Finally, my husband found a new position. We moved to a new state. A house sale fell through. We started a church from scratch in a place where we barely knew anyone. Last week we sold our other house, and now it feels like that difficult chapter has closed.
This week we closed on the house we’re living in! Happy dance!
It officially belongs to us now — well, to us and the bank, as the joke goes.
That long saga has ended, and I’m hopeful the next chapter will be the real adventure.
I’m so grateful you’ve shared this journey with me — your encouragement has been the best kind of therapy.
Where did YOU find beauty this week?
On Beautiful Life Friday we pause and notice the beauty we encountered — the small moments and details that lift our spirits. Often the beautiful life is right in front of us; we only need to look.
