One of my favorite ways to decorate for winter and the holidays is with mini trees. I love scattering them around the house to add charm and warmth. Over the years I’ve used all kinds: bottlebrush trees, pre-lit tabletop trees, paper trees, mercury glass trees and more. They’re simple, versatile and make every room feel festive.
Below I’ve gathered photos from several homes to show different ways to style small trees. You’ll see them grouped on mantels and shelves, tucked on side tables and ottomans, paired with candles and garlands, and placed in unexpected spots like the kitchen and guest room. Small trees are a quick way to add seasonal texture without taking over a space.

If you’re looking to add a few small trees to your decor, consider mixing textures and finishes: pair bottlebrush trees with ceramic houses, layer a pre-lit tree next to a stack of books, or use a paper tree as a subtle nightlight on a side table. Groupings of two or three different sizes create a collected, intentional look. Neutral tones, metallics and soft lighting keep small trees feeling modern and timeless.
Mini trees are also great for gifting and for decorating small spaces like entryways, bathrooms and offices. They work well on mantels and windowsills and can be styled with natural elements such as pinecones, fresh greenery or cinnamon sticks for a cozy, seasonal touch.
I hope these photos inspire you to try mini trees in new spots around your home. They’re an easy way to spread holiday cheer room by room without the commitment of a large tree.
