If you visited the blog this week and found it missing, we experienced a hard drive failure that caused serious problems. After nine years of blogging, seeing a blank page where your site should be is a real shock. It was a stressful start to the week, but thankfully the blog is back thanks to Ted, my tech guru. I was able to restore yesterday’s post that had disappeared, even though the comments didn’t return. For a few tense moments I wondered if this was the end of the blog, but instead it turned into a reminder to breathe and keep going.
If you ever feel overwhelmed by life, drained creatively, or frustrated by unexpected setbacks like a site going offline, it’s helpful to step away from the computer and do something that allows you to refocus and recharge. Small creative activities can be surprisingly restorative.
Today, in celebration of National Coloring Book Day, I’m sharing a collection of inspiring colored pages from The Inspired Room Coloring Book. It’s fun to see how people interpret the room illustrations, whether they choose a calm, neutral palette or a bold, unexpected mix of colors. Each page reflects individual taste and creativity, and the results are always a treat.
Coloring gives you permission to play, experiment, and make choices without pressure. Some people stick to realistic shades while others let their imagination guide them — either way, the process encourages a restful focus and a satisfying sense of completion. If you already have the coloring book, I’d love to see what you create. Share your pages on Instagram with the hashtag #TIRColoringBook so we can enjoy your color schemes and ideas.
I’m also excited for tomorrow’s post, where I’ll show a small “switcheroo” I’ve made in my living room. It feels good to be back and reconnect, and I appreciate your patience while we sorted out the tech issues. See you then.
