Online paint color tool
MMy Colortopia recently launched an easy-to-use online paint color tool called Color My Room. You can upload your own photos or choose one of the room images in the gallery, then try different Glidden paint colors directly on the room photo from your computer. It’s a simple, visual way to experiment with color before committing to actual paint.

You might notice my face in the tool offering color suggestions — I write for My Colortopia, so that’s why I appear as one of the friendly guides. Regardless, the tool itself is the highlight: it makes trying out paint colors quick and fun.

Using the tool is straightforward. First pick the paint colors you want to test. Next, define the areas of the room you want to repaint by tracing them with the provided lines. Finally, fill those areas with your selected colors. The interface makes it easy to target walls, trim, ceilings or other sections.

It was fun to see how different colors changed the mood of the kitchen photo. A lighter shade brightened the space, while deeper hues created a cozy, dramatic vibe. The preview helps you visualize how contrasts between cabinetry, trim and walls will read together.

I even experimented with ceiling color — a small change that can have a big impact. Subtle tones on ceilings can add depth or a touch of personality, and the preview shows whether a ceiling color complements or competes with wall shades.

Once you start trying combinations it’s easy to get carried away—there are so many options to explore. The tool encourages creativity without the cost, mess, and time of repeatedly painting real surfaces.

After experimenting with several palettes, it’s clear this kind of visual testing is a useful step in planning a paint project. You can narrow down favorites, compare warm versus cool tones, and see how bold accents pair with neutrals — all before buying a single can of paint.
Give the Color My Room tool a try — it’s a fun, practical way to preview paint colors for any room.
