HHello! It’s Courtney here with a special announcement. Over a year ago we introduced you to Michaela, our “long lost sister” and kindred spirit. We love having her share her creative projects and ideas on The Inspired Room, and we look forward to more posts from her. Today I’m excited to introduce another kindred spirit and friend—a new “long lost sister” joining our blog family:

Meet Cassie! She and I met during my freshman year at Seattle Pacific University when we lived on the same dorm floor. She was a sophomore with one of the cutest, best-styled dorm rooms on the floor—no surprise once I learned she was studying interior design. We later both became friends with Michaela, who was also in the SPU Interior Design program, and the rest is history. We all graduated with degrees in Interior Design, and I’ve always admired Cassie’s sense of style, creativity, and design talent.
She now lives near Seattle with her adorable little family. As is apparently required of our sisterhood (me, Kylee and Michaela), she has a Goldendoodle. It seems the clan is full of dogs: Michaela has an English Creme Golden Retriever, Kylee has a Labradoodle, and we have a Goldendoodle and a Labradoodle. Clearly, she’s kindred in more ways than one.
Whenever I saw photos of her house or her creative projects, I knew you’d appreciate following along with her ideas as much as I do.

Recently we asked Cassie if she’d like to share a bit about herself and her home here on The Inspired Room. We were thrilled when she said yes. She’ll be stopping by now and then to share house details, DIY projects, and decorating ideas. We know you’ll love her perspective—so please join us in welcoming her to the sisterhood!

Hello friends!
I’m so excited to get to know you and to be sharing here on The Inspired Room. I’ll introduce myself briefly and show you some corners of our home.
I studied Interior Design at SPU, like Courtney and Michaela. After graduating I stepped away from professional design for a while, but I still nurture my creativity at home and in my free time. I married during my last year of school to my husband, who designs and develops software. We love collaborating on projects and share a passion for creativity and thoughtful design.

After several tiny downtown Seattle apartments, we moved to the small town of Snoqualmie and bought our house two years ago. Since then our family has grown—we added a Goldendoodle, welcomed a baby, and are now expecting another little one.
My days are full—diaper bags, puppy leashes, paintbrushes, and baking pans. I love the ongoing challenge of creating a home that is both beautiful and practical for our stage of life. Our house isn’t perfect every day (honestly, most days it’s not), but I try to fill it with character, warmth, and love.
When we moved in, we prioritized the downstairs because that’s where we host guests and spend family time. Downstairs includes an office, a three-quarter bath, living room, dining room, and kitchen. My favorite space so far is our dining room.

The rest of the house is painted a very light gray-beige. For the dining room I wanted a bold, deep navy to create contrast and coziness—I’m thrilled with the result. The paint is a rich Seaworthy blue by Sherwin-Williams. I also love the light fixture we selected; installing it was a memorable (and slightly stressful) moment watching my husband hang it.

Our living room remains a work in progress, and likely will as we raise young children. The front window looks out onto the street and park, which makes it the perfect spot for our dog, Summer, to keep watch.
Upstairs we’ve focused on the kids’ spaces. Our daughter Evalyn—Evie—is 15 months old and full of energy. Decorating her nursery was one of my favorite projects while I was pregnant. I especially love the handmade quilt I made for her and a few charming art prints I found on Etsy.

I’m a big believer in reading, so we’ve built quite a small family library. We installed book ledges in the nursery and keep more books in the playroom. Living in the Seattle area means a lot of rainy days, so indoor spaces for play are important—our playroom was a must. It’s still coming together, but I’m happy with the colorful rug and practical storage solutions we picked for it.

We’re on a long-term journey with this house—so far we’ve made many improvements and we have more plans ahead. I’m excited to share more home updates and DIY projects with you as we move forward.
Cassie
