Seattle Garden Party Guide: Top Spots, Dates & Tips for 2026

Seattle Garden Party with Home Depot

Last weekend I had the pleasure of hosting a Seattle garden party at The Home Depot. It was a lively, hands-on day filled with planting, painting and plenty of gardening inspiration. My daughters, Kylee and Courtney, joined me as we welcomed families and local readers to enjoy activities, pick up tips from a Master Gardener and sample fresh recipes created for the event.

Throughout the day we hosted several hundred guests. Every attendee left with a hand-painted pot planted with basil, cilantro or oregano. Watching people—children and adults alike—decorate their pots with stencils and paint pens was a highlight. The activity was simple, creative and perfect for all ages. I even added some of the recommended pens to my online shop for anyone who wants to recreate the craft at home.

The event theme was #SpringMadeSimple, which I love. Gardening can feel intimidating at first, but small, approachable projects make it easy to get started and feel proud of what you grow. I’m trying to grow more of our own vegetables for health and sustainability, so events like this are encouraging and educational. The Home Depot runs many similar events throughout the year that inspire beginners and experienced gardeners alike.

Teena Spindler, the master gardener who shared tips at the event, maintains a gardening blog called Grow It Now and offers practical guidance for projects like wine barrel gardens.

Garden Tools from The Home Depot

The first 50 guests received a canvas bag with quality gardening tools available at The Home Depot. New tools can be motivating when starting a garden project—comfortable gloves, a trowel and a few specialty items make outdoor work more enjoyable. If you’re looking for inspiration, treating yourself to a few useful tools is a great first step.

Attendees were also given idea cards with gardening suggestions and recipe cards from the event’s cook, Amy Pennington. Her recipes were a hit—one that stood out was a flavorful meatball dish I’m eager to make at home. The recipe materials are a helpful way to combine homegrown herbs with simple, seasonal meals.

The cucumber-basil lemonade served at the event was especially refreshing and showcased how freshly picked herbs can brighten simple drinks and dishes.
