Entryway Console Cabinet Ideas — My $1,500 Furniture Hack

Hi! Kylee here. Lately I’ve been making my entryway feel cozier. I have some art incoming and I’m considering painting the walls and doors eventually. I’ll share more of the space soon, but for now I want to show you my new cabinet. My first plan for this wall was a bench, but the wall turned out longer than I expected and the bench looked undersized. So I started looking for something more substantial with storage.

While searching for the perfect entry piece, I kept returning to several black cabinets I liked. A long version of those would have cost a couple thousand dollars — which I was reluctantly willing to spend — until I found a more budget-friendly idea.

I discovered a cabinet with the right aesthetic but it wasn’t long enough. Then it hit me: buy two and put them together.

Buying two of the same cabinets and lining them up created the perfect length for my entry and cost me under $500 — roughly one quarter of the price of the longer pieces I had been considering. The double-cabinet solution also gives flexibility: if I change my mind later I’ll have two smaller units to use elsewhere. These cabinets come in white, natural, and brown, so they can suit many styles. There’s even a three-door version that would work well for a TV console or a smaller area.

The more expensive piece I originally liked has charming arched doors, but the extra cost didn’t feel worth it to me. The takeaway: consider creative options that deliver the look you want without overspending.

Update: the exact cabinets I bought appear to be sold out since I first wrote this, but many similar options exist. Glass-front cabinets with multiple color choices are a versatile alternative and allow you to change knobs for a custom touch. Cabinets with an open bottom shelf are great for styling, while natural wood options with scalloped or carved doors offer more texture and warmth. There are also woven-panel and blue-painted cabinets with open shelves that provide variety in both function and finish.
