Drive By: A Tribute Blend Inspired by Two Classics

I recently drove down to Portland for a couple of days and, as I passed through some familiar neighborhoods, I leaned out the window and snapped a few photos of two of my favorite houses. Being back in Lake Oswego brought back so many memories—I really miss that place.

I’ve shared these houses before in my drive-bys, but this time I captured fresh springtime angles. The weather was warm and sunny, and everything felt bright and alive. These homes are so charming that I never tire of looking at them.

The yellow house sits right on the lake in Lake Oswego, just across a small canal from where I lived in high school. I adore the picket fence, the blue shutters, the classic lanterns, the stone walkway and those stunning coral tulips that line the yard. The combination of details gives the house a timeless, welcoming feel.

This other house has appeared in my posts before as well, but I managed to get a new view of the open gate. It’s located in the First Addition neighborhood, only a short walk from where we lived when my girls were little. Wandering that area always brings back fond memories of family strolls and sunny afternoons.

I seriously wanted to hop out of the car and peek through the gate to show you the porch and the front yard—what a sweet space. In one of the photos you can just make out a pair of Adirondack chairs on the lawn. I didn’t have time to stop and explore on foot this time, but next visit I’ll be sure to take extra time and share more of the details up close.

It’s been a long week, so I’ll keep this brief and move on to the Inspired Linkies. I’d love to know what inspired you this week—link up your posts below. Please link directly to a relevant post rather than a homepage.
