AAbout a year ago I realized something was missing: I needed a creative space of my own. More than a functional office, I wanted a place that would re-energize me, spark ideas, and offer a quiet retreat from the daily bustle.
I needed a room where I could step away from the noise and be surrounded by things that inspire me. A space to think, create and simply be. I also wanted a place where my daughters and I could shut the door, laugh loudly, listen to music, light a favorite candle, and dream a little bigger. A room where we could eat ice cream in private and enjoy a little girl time without interruptions.
We love our kitchen, but we needed an escape — a small getaway inside our home just for the girls.

Last year I converted a tiny, boring office that had become more of a storage closet into a happy, colorful space for creative dreaming. It’s still my office, but it’s also a cozy retreat where I and my girls can spend time together.
It’s not large or fancy, and it doesn’t have to be perfect. What matters is that it’s ours — a small room filled with personality and color.
And yes — after searching for a while, I finally found my yellow chair.
I always felt there was a yellow chair out there calling my name, and I found it at World Market. It felt meant to come home with me.

I’m still smitten with the small accent chairs tucked into the corners, perfect for late-night conversations or curling up with a stack of magazines.

I adore the Anthro curtains that frame the large window, giving me a daily view to inspire new ideas. The lively mix of colors and patterns brings the room to life and keeps my energy up.
This space is filled with objects I love—pieces that hold memories, make me smile, and encourage me to try new things. Color, pattern and happy reminders are what rejuvenate me here.

Scatterings of meaningful items are placed throughout the room, each with a story or a laugh attached. Small details like a favorite platter or a quirky accessory make the space feel personal and warm.

I especially love seeing the chandelier and my yellow chair from the hallway near the kitchen. That view is a daily reminder of this little escape tucked into our home.
I’m a strong believer in having a special place of your own — even if it’s just a corner of a room. A dedicated spot to daydream, create, or recharge is something we all deserve.
Do you have a special space of your own?
