Let’s catch up on some of the projects I’ve been working on so you don’t feel left behind — and neither do I.
First, I’m really enjoying the new furniture arrangement at home, with a baker’s rack now in the dining room and a dresser holding the TV in the family room. I’m considering wall-mounting the TV eventually to make that side of the room feel less heavy and adding bamboo shades on the opposite wall to balance the space. I also have a few ideas for updating the dresser. The swap was simple but made a noticeable difference — baby steps toward a more comfortable home.
Around the corner from the family room, there’s something happening at the end of the hall. Do you have a door you usually keep shut? That was our office door. It opened a few times a day, but I never enjoyed looking at the room as I passed by. It didn’t feel like a space to admire, so I tended to keep it closed even though I loved the light that pours through the large windows.
That door will be shut no longer — I’m finally organizing, rearranging, and beautifying the office. Last week I removed a bulky desk that I didn’t like, and now the room feels full of possibility. I’m leaning toward brighter, cheerier colors — citrus tones like yellow and tangerine — because I’m craving spring and summer. Just seeing the open door and the light flooding in makes me excited to leave it open and enjoy a happier, more inviting space.
I’m also still working on the never-ending bathroom project; photos are coming soon. However, I pretty much paused the bathroom work while I focused on this recent project.

Ta da! Our first Easter in our new coffee-shop-style church building. Apologies for the poor photo quality — it started on my phone and was later captured from a social post — but you can still see that we’re now meeting in the new space and it’s coming together from those original blank white walls.
We’ve only been in the building two weeks, but it’s amazing how quickly a space can transform when you put effort into it. There’s still a lot to do, but I’m pleased with the progress so far.
Soon I’ll share some of the creative projects I’ve made for this space, including a pallet art display that would work beautifully in a home and budget-friendly pendant lighting inspired by Anthropologie. I need to bring a better camera next time so the photos show the details more clearly.
I’m having a blast experimenting with ideas and stretching my creativity to make the most of what I have and what I can find on a budget. It’s exciting to create vintage-modern, industrial-inspired elements out of what began as a simple white box.
My girls and I have also been working on a nursery that I can’t wait to show.
And yes, for eagle-eyed readers of The Inspired Room, that is my green dining chair in the foreground of the photo. We don’t own enough chairs yet — some people stood and others sat on the floor — but having a place of our own was thrilling. Not having everything perfect actually added to the excitement; everyone pitched in, and watching it come together has been fun.
It’s always a joy to have a new place to call home.
