31 Days to Fall in Love with Autumn: A Month-Long Celebration

fall decorating inspiration

Every year since the early days of blogging I’ve hosted a Fall series on The Inspired Room. I can’t help myself — I’ve always loved autumn. It’s a glorious season, too wonderful to spend worrying about winter or missing summer. The cooler days and crisp evenings invite us to slow down, savor cozy moments, and appreciate simple pleasures.

Fall is ideal for freshening your home and mindset. For me it’s less about the temperature or leaves changing and more about cultivating a warm, welcoming atmosphere for family and home life. I enjoy layering textures, bringing in comfortable accents, and arranging spaces to better reflect how we want to live. Autumn naturally inspires baking, home-cooked meals, and small projects that make daily life more enjoyable. It’s also a great time to start planning for the holidays so the season stays peaceful and memorable.

That intentional approach is what I call Fall Nesting — embracing the season with purpose and delight. Each year I plan projects and ideas to help make the most of this time, and this year is no different. I’ve put together a full lineup of inspiration for a month-long series called Falling for Fall, beginning September 16th. I’m excited to share a new post every day for 31 days, with a few early sneak peeks before the official start.

If you’d like to join in, you can create your own series or posts. I’ll host a link-up party on the first day of the series so others can share their autumn projects and ideas. If you’re new to The Inspired Room and the annual Fall Nesting series, this is a great chance to follow along: expect daily inspiration for cozy decorating, simple seasonal recipes, practical organizing tips, and easy DIYs to refresh your home for fall.

Don’t miss it — the Fall Nesting series begins September 16th!

Series highlights

Throughout the series I’ll cover a variety of themes and projects that help you welcome autumn into every corner of your home: ideas for creating cozy dining and living spaces, seasonal porches and entryways, practical organization tips to simplify family life, small landscaping and outdoor projects, and plenty of decorations you can make with what you already have. I’ll also share recipes, styling tips for shelves and tables, and approachable DIYs to inspire a slower, more intentional fall.

Below is a curated collection of posts from past Fall Nesting series installments to give you a sense of what to expect — topics include evolving autumn style, cozy dining room secrets, coffee stations, mixing eclectic textures, porch decorating, simple centerpieces, painted pumpkins, easy firepits, favorite candle scents, and more.
