Sometimes it seems like everyone else has it all together, tidying their home and life right after the holidays. For me, it usually takes a little longer — sometimes until February — before I feel ready for the new year. That said, January is a perfect month for a simple home reset.

Now that we’re in mid-January, I’m finally settling into a winter routine. While others might already be thinking about spring, I’m happy to take my time. The house is still a bit disorganized from ongoing remodeling, but it won’t take much to get things back in order.
Contractors hoped to finish the kitchen sooner, but a few details remain — a trim piece for the round window, some paint touch-ups, and a couple of small issues that needed attention. I’m very excited to share the kitchen reveal as soon as everything’s complete.

The dust and constant activity of contractors will wrap up soon, and I look forward to sinking down on the daybed without an audience. Until then, we’ve learned to work around the mess and the crew.

Working during a remodel isn’t ideal — I do work better in a calm, empty house — but we’ve adapted. When projects are underway, you just do what you have to do and make the best of the situation.

Last year’s renovation phase was exciting and we’re grateful for the opportunity to update both the main floor and the lower level. This year I’m especially looking forward to the nesting phase — settling in, arranging, and enjoying the finished spaces.

Believe it or not, I’m eager to return to my regular cleaning routines. I look forward to having every room dusted and organized again — a simple, comforting goal that feels like a fresh start.

I enjoy the small daily rituals: puttering around the house, tidying, and rearranging a few things to keep the space feeling lived-in and welcoming.

The dogs have handled this transition gracefully. They adapted to the disruptions of moving and contractors, and they’ll be as happy as I am when the house is completely back to normal and they can roam freely again.

It’s the little comforts that matter most: cozy rooms that invite rest, inspire creativity, and offer peace. A thoughtful reset can breathe new life into a home and make daily routines more satisfying.
How will you reset your home this year? Whether it’s letting go of items that no longer serve your family, rearranging furniture, or deep-cleaning spaces, a small, intentional refresh can be deeply therapeutic.
