Farmhouse Style Cottage
No, this isn’t my new house, but it captured my heart the moment I saw it. I discovered this charming farmhouse on HGTV and took a moment to admire its simple, timeless beauty. Of all the styles I love, a white farmhouse often feels like a dream home to me. I don’t plan to live on a working farm, yet the cozy porch, classic details, and welcoming feel of a farmhouse are irresistible.
At this moment I’m surrounded by boxes as I prepare to move into a new home. In six days I’ll spend my first night in a new place—finally. We’ve signed the papers and the uncertainty is over. While my new house isn’t a fairytale farmhouse like these photos, it will be our home for years to come, and that feels wonderful.
I’ve been thinking about what a dream home means. For me it’s where imagination meets reality: a place that reflects who you are and supports how you live. Though I have fanciful ideas about different styles, there’s no substitute for the comfort and belonging of home. I’ll share more about how we chose this house in a future post—it’s unique compared to anything I’ve lived in before, and I’m surprisingly happy with our choice.
