IIf you’ve followed this blog for a while, you may know my daughter Courtney is studying interior design. She has contributed a few posts here and will be writing regular columns in the future. As she enters her final year of college, she’s been searching for an internship to gain real-world experience — an exciting milestone for her and a proud moment for me as her mom.
Courtney hoped to find an internship at a beautiful firm led by a designer whose taste matched her own. She wanted to work in a place she loved and learn from someone she could relate to creatively. That was the ideal scenario, though many of the positions she found didn’t fit that vision. Still, she was open to any opportunity — you have to start somewhere.

Then the perfect opportunity appeared: she was offered a design internship with Kelie Grosso at Maison Luxe in Seattle. It was a dream come true. This accomplishment is entirely Courtney’s — she pursued and earned it herself. I didn’t pull any strings; I simply cheered her on. I’m immensely proud of her and grateful to Kelie for the chance she’s given my daughter.

Working in such a beautiful studio is inspiring. Courtney and I both believe that a thoughtfully designed environment enriches daily life, and this setting will be an ideal place for her to grow and create.
Is this not the perfect opportunity for a young, aspiring interior designer?
I’m so excited for Courtney and proud of her accomplishments. I look forward to sharing her design ideas and the insights she gains as an intern at Maison Luxe. You can also read her announcement and see more photos on her blog.
