IIf you follow this blog, you may know my daughter Courtney is studying interior design. She has contributed a few posts here and will be writing regular columns in the future. For the past year she’s been searching for an interior design internship as she prepares for her final year of college. It’s an exciting step toward gaining real-world experience, and as her proud mom I couldn’t be happier for her.
Courtney dreamed of working at a beautiful design firm where the lead designer shared her aesthetic—somewhere she could both love the workspace and learn from someone with a similar design sensibility. While that was the ideal, many of the internships she found didn’t match that vision. Still, she remained open to gaining any experience; everyone has to start somewhere.

Then her dream came true: she was offered an internship with Kelie Grosso at Maison Luxe in Seattle. I was thrilled for her.
This opportunity is entirely her own accomplishment—she pursued it herself. I didn’t know Kelie, and I didn’t intervene. Courtney has been chasing this goal on her own, and I’ve been cheering her on from the sidelines. I’m incredibly proud of her and grateful to Kelie for giving her this chance.

Who wouldn’t be inspired working in such a beautiful space? Courtney and I both believe a well-designed environment truly enhances everyday life.
Is this not the most wonderful dream come true for a young, aspiring interior designer?
I’m so excited and proud of Courtney. I can’t wait to share her design ideas and hear about her experiences as an intern at Maison Luxe. You can also read her announcement and see more photos on her blog.
