HHello, friends! We may not be at Clark Griswold levels of holiday excess, but this is our first Christmas in the new house and I think it turned out sweet and simple—just a little bit magical.
We still have lots of projects and unpacking to do inside and out, but we weren’t going to miss decorating for the season. A few twinkling lights and hanging stars on the exterior instantly made the house feel festive. I’m hoping for a little snow to finish the picture, but the lights do most of the work for now.
One of my favorite features of this home is the covered front porch with the upper deck above. Both spots are perfect for enjoying neighborhood and water views. Living in the Northwest, a covered porch is especially valuable during rainy months, and the double doors really help the porch feel like an extension of the living room. In a smaller house, that extra space will be so useful.
Porches are one of the best places to show a little seasonal flair—you can easily change them with every holiday.
We have many plans for this house over the coming months and years and can’t wait to share our interior and exterior projects with you in the new year. For now, we’re savoring the moment and celebrating this season and all it means.
Here’s a cozy peek at our festive porches…and a few photos of the pups enjoying the decorations too.
