I know many people still feel uneasy about wallpaper—especially if you remember a kitchen plastered in yellow and orange or a living room covered in your grandmother’s floral print. Wallpaper had an awkward, often unattractive era, and old papers can be a nightmare to remove.
That faded, dated look is likely what comes to mind when you think of wallpaper.
But consider giving wallpaper another chance. Modern designs and materials have come a long way; wallpaper no longer needs to be overwhelming or tacky.
Start small: paper a narrow entryway, a powder room, or a single accent wall. These are low-commitment ways to introduce pattern, texture, and warmth without risking the entire house. A thoughtfully chosen paper can transform a small space, adding personality and a finished look instantly.

I recently added some beautiful wallpaper to my shop and I’m considering it for my powder room or bedroom. I’d like to do it someday when I have time to focus on projects like wallpapering. For now I’m juggling half-painted rooms and hosting guests, but I still admire rooms that feel finished with wallpaper.
Look at that entryway—so inviting and stylish. Wallpaper can be subtle or bold, but when chosen well it creates a strong sense of place.
Are you ready to try wallpaper, or will you stick to your old “no” instinct? If you’re hesitant, remember you don’t need to cover an entire room to make an impact. Small doses often have the most dramatic effect.
