I know many of you still feel wary about wallpaper—especially if you remember kitchens papered in yellow and orange or living rooms covered in floral prints. Wallpaper did go through an awkward phase, and removing old wallpaper can be a real challenge. Those memories have put a lot of people off.
One glance at some of those dated patterns is enough to remind you why wallpaper earned a bad reputation.
But it’s worth reconsidering. Wallpaper today is very different.
Start small if you’re unsure: a narrow entryway, a powder room, or a single accent wall can make a strong statement without overwhelming a space. Contemporary wallpapers come in subtle textures, modern patterns, and sophisticated palettes that warm a room and add instant character.

I’ve added some beautiful wallpaper options to my shop, and I’m considering one for a powder room or bedroom. I’ll get to it someday—right now I’m juggling half-painted rooms and small projects—but I still love the way a well-chosen paper can transform a space.
That entryway in the photo is a perfect example: elegant, inviting, and just the right amount of personality. Wallpaper doesn’t have to be loud to be effective; when chosen thoughtfully it enhances architecture, complements furnishings, and creates a sense of warmth and style.
If you’re worried about commitment, peel-and-stick and temporary wallpapers are great alternatives. They make it easy to test a pattern and remove it later without the hassle of traditional stripping. For long-term installations, professional hanging or careful DIY preparation ensures a smooth finish and makes future removal easier.
So, are you ready to give wallpaper another try, or will you “just say no”? Small, well-placed applications are a low-risk way to see how modern wallpaper can change the feel of your home.
