A few weeks ago I was asked by my friends at Apartment Guide to take part in a fun online design challenge. I was given a generous budget and invited to shop the web to assemble furniture and décor for four different rooms. Shopping on someone else’s dime? I was in.
Although it was a virtual shopping trip and I couldn’t keep the items I selected, the project was still exciting. Each room had a set budget — more than I normally spend — so it felt a little like winning the lottery. I was also asked to design each space in a particular style, which made the assignment creatively rewarding.
My first design assignment was a modern living room. You can see the pieces I chose on the Apartment Guide design board below.
