A while back I was scrolling through Facebook Marketplace and came across a vintage blue-and-white platter that stopped me in my tracks. It was too far away for me to pick up, so I let it go — but it kept nagging at me.
I hadn’t seen that pattern before, so I did a little digging on eBay and found two more matching platters plus a large bowl. Each piece features a different whimsical scene; a couple even show sailboats. The maker is Vtg Sanyei, a brand I’ve seen occasionally on resale sites.

I love dishes that tell a story with different scenes, so I couldn’t resist — I began buying them one at a time. The winter-scene platter I won in a bid; sometimes placing a bid can score you a better price.
Luckily the seller accepted my offer right away, so I was thrilled with the deal.

Now the only question is where to display them. These pieces are large, and my home has modest wall space, so I’m weighing my options.
I ordered heavy-duty plate hangers because they’re substantial and these platters are heavy. I’ve written before about hanging plates on the wall, and for pieces like these I’d definitely use sturdy hangers and proper wall anchors to ensure they’re secure.

I usually try not to buy items without a specific spot in mind, but these were worth the exception. If I decide not to hang them, I can display them on kitchen shelves with the right plate stands — so I’m confident I’ll find a home for each piece.
I’ll share where they end up soon — stay tuned!
