We’ve had several requests for a monthly roundup to make it easier to find recent projects and see what we’ve accomplished at a glance. While out to dinner (our first night out alone since Clara was born), we joked about assigning cheeky titles to our projects — and thus the idea of monthly superlatives was born. It also reminded us that maybe we should stop talking about the blog on date night.
On the subject of superlatives: John was voted “Friendliest Male” three years running by his high school marching band, and I somehow ended up labeled “Best Friends” in the yearbook alongside Jenny Czajkowski, who once helped me highlight my hair with mustache bleach in her sink. But enough about us — here are the July superlatives:
Most Cheerful: Painting the Laundry Room — a pretty darn happy greeny-yellow color.

Most Improved: Adding Laundry Room Built-Ins — then painting them and styling with things we already owned.

Nicest Legs: ORBing the Parsons Chair Legs.

Most Likely NOT To Succeed (first try): The Guest Room Light Switcheroo — and then the ReSwitcheroo.

Runner-Up, Most Likely NOT To Succeed (first try): Framing Our Anniversary Note Cards — and then reframing them without borders.

Most Likely To Please The Queen: Tea Dying Pillow Covers — elegant, inexpensive, and delightfully simple.

Most Likely To Result In A Crack Joke: Filling Patio Cracks with polymeric sand.

Runner-Up, Most Likely To Result In A Crack Joke: Caulking the Laundry Room Ceiling — which also kicked off a few other laundry projects.

Most Outdoorsy: Spray Painting Patio Furniture — you guessed it, ORB.

Runner-Up, Most Outdoorsy: Our Mini Porch Spruce-Up.

Class Nerd: Coding a Room Gallery.

Most Boob-Centric: My Breastfeeding Post — who knew that diary-like entry would generate nearly 1,000 comments?

Most Free-Spirited: My Unironed Ribbon Chandelier — still gloriously unironed, despite my usual fussiness.

Most Controversial: Priming and painting the laundry cabinets, switching the hardware, and hanging our ironing board — cue the directional debate.

Most Glamorous: Painting Clara’s Closet Pink & Playing With Champagne “Stencils”. I experimented with homemade stamps and stencils and have about 20% of the closet done; I hope to finish soon and post an update.

Most Embarrassing: The Pinterest Challenge Video. By far.

Most Spontaneous: We didn’t post about it at the time because it happened gradually, but at the beginning of July Clara suddenly decided to walk after lots of quirky one-legged crawling. Just like that, she’s a little more independent.
Most Immature: The Whole Twig & Berries Thing — spray-painting frames and mats and misplacing our duvet in the process.

So there you have it: July at a glance. This was more fun than we probably should admit — dorks for life.
What have you been up to this month? Do you ever make a list of accomplishments to look back on? We’re used to constantly adding tasks to our to-do list, so taking a moment to appreciate what we’ve already completed felt nice. It’s interesting to compare the super cheap projects (tea-dying pillows, painting the laundry room, painting Clara’s closet, and making the ribbon chandelier — each costing under $2) with more involved projects (custom built-ins, a gallery wall) and everything in between. We were all over the place this month, and exactly how we like it.
