Hello friends! I’m Cassie, back with my monthly guest post. Babies have filled my thoughts lately—between parenting a lively one-and-a-half-year-old, expecting another in a few months, and celebrating the many friends who are pregnant, I’ve spent a lot of time exploring baby gear, buying items, and making things for little ones.
The world of baby products can feel overwhelming: strollers, car seats, diapers, feeding supplies, furniture, clothing, and blankets. There’s a long list of essentials and an even longer list of helpful or simply charming extras. You can find countless registry guides online, but here I’ve compiled a personal list of favorite baby items—things I’ve given, received, or both. Most are a bit more unique than typical big-box picks, and I’ve chosen them because they’re either especially useful or irresistibly adorable.
Note: This is not a formal registry recommendation, though several items would be lovely registry additions. When I give a baby gift, I usually combine a needed item from the parents’ registry with a thoughtful surprise—often something like the items below.

1. Baby’s First Year memory book by Lucy Darling. I recently discovered this memory book and love its simplicity and elegant design. It comes in animal and floral versions and captures milestones and memories in a way that feels tasteful and manageable—perfect for busy parents who want to save special moments without being overwhelmed.
2. Bandana bibs. Bibs have evolved beyond the basics. Bandana-style bibs look stylish while functioning like traditional bibs, and reversible options add versatility. They’re a practical, cute choice for everyday wear.
3. Puj Flyte baby tub. This compact, foldable tub was ideal for our small newborn. It fits most sinks, including bathroom sinks, and is easy to store or take along when traveling. While it’s not a long-term tub solution, it’s perfect for the earliest months.

4. Beatrix Potter classics. I was thrilled to find a vintage boxed set at a sale and love sharing these timeless tales—Peter Rabbit and friends—with my daughter. The individual book format makes them feel special, and classic children’s literature can become a cherished part of a child’s library.
5. Noodle & Boo baby lotion. That fresh newborn scent is irresistible, and this lotion brings back that baby smell—at least close enough for my 18-month-old to smell delicious and comfortingly soft.
6. WubbaNub pacifier. This is a pacifier attached to a small stuffed animal, and it’s brilliant: it’s easier to hold onto, less likely to get lost, and often doubles as a soothing teething companion. Even babies who didn’t like pacifiers sometimes love these.

7. A pretty Boppy cover. The Boppy is a favorite nursing pillow for many moms, and custom covers from small shops add a personal touch. I recommend keeping two covers so one is always ready while the other’s in the wash.
8. Skip Hop diaper changing station. This portable changing station works well at home and on the go. It includes a wrist strap, pockets for diapers and wipes, and a roomy changing surface—handy for outings or quick diaper changes.
9. Solly Baby wrap. Babywearing is wonderful for bonding and for practical hands-free support. I used an Ergo carrier a lot with my first child, but I’m planning to use a wrap with our next baby. The Solly wrap is soft, cozy, and highly recommended by many parents for everyday wearing.

10. Freshly Picked moccasins. These soft-soled shoes are popular for a reason. They stay on well, support babies who are practicing walking, and are very well made. They can be pricier than other options, but when gifted they feel like a truly special pair of shoes.
11. Stroller blankets. Blankets are a common baby gift, and a high-quality, well-weighted stroller blanket is genuinely useful. They’re great for stroller rides, car trips, and extra cozy layers in cool weather.
12. Boon Pulp feeder. This silicone feeder is helpful when introducing solids and soothing teething discomfort. It’s easier to clean than mesh feeders and offers a safe way for babies to explore new tastes and textures.

13. Aden and Anais swaddle blankets. Muslin swaddles are versatile staples: swaddling, nursing covers, car seat shields, changing-area barriers, and more. Aden & Anais offers several options—classic muslin, bamboo, and organic versions—and collaborates on exclusive patterns for those who want unique designs.
I hope this list provides helpful ideas for the babies and new parents in your life. In my next post I’ll share a tutorial for one of my favorite baby items you can make yourself—I’m excited to show it to you!
