Framed Chalkboard / Zinc Card Holder
Thought you might enjoy seeing how my chalkboard looks for the holidays (excuse the grainy phone photo).
It is festive — but before anyone feels pressured by Pinterest-perfect holiday scenes, here’s a little honest note from our house.
This chalkboard has had fall leaves drawn on it since last year.
I know.
Not the kind of fall leaves we drew a few months ago. I mean the leaves we drew in the fall of last year — so they stayed up through Christmas 2016, winter and spring of 2017, summer 2017, and now again this fall. My reasoning: if you leave a seasonal display up long enough, you’ll be on-theme at least once a year.
So yeah — don’t let a chalkboard define you or tell you how on top of things you should be.

I even had the tree up at Thanksgiving, which felt like an accomplishment at the time. But remember: we also had fall leaves on the chalkboard at Easter.
If it helps anyone feel better about their own holiday prep, our house is actually pitch black outside right now.
We tried to install a new porch light and something went wrong, so none of our outdoor or porch lights are working. Not only are there no twinkling Christmas lights, there’s no exterior lighting at all — which probably makes the place look like we belong to the Scrooge family.
But honestly, I’m owning it. It is what it is. I’ll stroll in with my head held high and remind myself that our light comes from within.
I clearly don’t have everything together, but I’ll get cozy by the tree and enjoy the season in front of us. I hope you do the same, no matter what your chalkboard says or how your house looks from the street.
Hope you all are having a cozy Wednesday!
