Greetings! We recently had several rooms painted, and I’m thrilled to finally have fresh walls. I’d been wanting this done since we moved in, and the new coat of white paint has given us the clean slate we needed to move forward with decorating. If you missed the “before” photos, they show just how much difference paint can make. The new color feels bright and calm, and it’s the perfect backdrop for layering in texture and color.
The room isn’t finished and nothing feels completely final, but we’re making steady progress toward the cozy, lived-in look we wanted. Adding a few more layers—textiles, art, and accessories—has helped warm the space while keeping it relaxed and inviting.

There’s a thermostat awkwardly placed on the wall above this gold dresser, something many houses seem to have. Our plant does a nice job of softening and partially hiding it, which helps the vignette feel more intentional.
I’ve been excited to style this corner of the room, which sits diagonally from the rattan daybed and faces the opposite corner windows. We’ve reused a lot of pieces from our previous home and family furniture, simply arranging them differently to suit this new space.
Most of the furniture came with us from our old house or is a family piece, except for the daybed on the other side of the room.
The gold dresser moved from our bedroom and now stores entertaining linens.
The wood game table has been in our family for years, and the vintage blue-and-white lamp now sports a navy shade.
The framed botanicals, the café chair, the blue plant pot, and one of the wall baskets are new additions.
The rug was purchased before Christmas and continues to bring pattern and color to the space.

We brought the linen settee, leather sofa, and round coffee table from our previous house. Whenever possible I prefer not to replace items right away—saving for larger projects like the side patio, sewer work, and kitchen remodel makes sense, so holding on to pieces that still work here helps the budget and keeps the home feeling personal.

The herringbone-top game table on this wall has a checkerboard center you can flip over for play. It’s a family heirloom we love, and it fits nicely tucked here where it doubles as a small desk area.
I considered removing the glass from the framed botanicals to reduce glare in photos, but at some angles the glass reflects the water view outside in a way I like, so I’m leaving it in for now.
Reusing what we already own while adding a few new pieces has been both economical and satisfying. It helps the room feel like “us” in a refreshed way that suits this house.

The space is beginning to feel much more welcoming and less like a recent move-in. The relaxed arrangement works well for conversation, enjoying the view, or curling up on the sofa or daybed to read, nap, or work.
On the daybed and fireplace side of the room we’ve made a few updates, such as new pillows for the daybed and a new mirror above the fireplace—our previous mirror now hangs in the dining room. I’ll share updated photos soon.
We also installed bamboo shades in the dining room this week and plan to add matching shades in this room next. They really are a finishing touch that brings warmth and texture to the windows, and I look forward to having them in place.
