This year we’re keeping Thanksgiving small and quiet, celebrating with our immediate family. With remodeling still underway at home, a calm holiday and a good meal feel especially welcome. We’ll be cooking at my daughter Kylee’s townhouse since our stove won’t be working for a few more weeks. She’ll be sharing one of her favorite salads on the blog this week, so look out for that.
We’re also excited to get our Christmas tree this weekend. Cutting down our own tree is a family tradition we cherish, and it always feels like the official start of the season. I’ve already started a few simple preparations so decorating the tree will be easy and enjoyable when it arrives.
In September I agreed to take part in a virtual Christmas house tour on December 7. I was hopeful the renovation would be finished by then, but progress takes time. That’s okay—our holiday decorating is intentionally simple, and only a few areas are ready for full styling. Simple, relaxed decor often feels best anyway.
