Pashmina Granite Review: Tour and Pricing at The Stoneyard

Our new and improved granite slabs arrived this week, and unlike our last trip to the stone yard, it was love at first sight. Here’s Sherry getting acquainted with two handsome slabs of Pashmina before they head off for cutting.

The best news is that the new countertops will be installed at our house on Tuesday. That means our Home Depot installer can return on Wednesday to reconnect the plumbing and finish the final details — which should make our kitchen truly complete.

Until then, we’re admiring this close-up photo of the countertop that will soon be in daily use.

Choosing the right granite felt like a small design victory after the long process of planning and demolition. Pashmina’s subtle veins and warm tones fit the aesthetic we’ve been aiming for — a timeless surface that balances elegance with everyday practicality. We wanted something durable that would stand up to cooking, kid activities, and regular cleanup, while also offering enough visual interest to anchor the room’s style.

We also considered how the new stone would pair with our cabinet finishes, backsplash, and hardware. The installers will template and cut the slabs to fit precisely around sinks and appliances, then polish the edges and seams so the joins are nearly invisible. Having professionals measure and install reduces the margin for error and speeds up the final hookup with the plumbing and fixtures.

As the countdown to installation winds down, we’re making a short list of remaining tasks: clearing the workspace, protecting adjacent surfaces, and confirming final details with the installer. Little decisions — like the profile of the countertop edge and the type of sealant used — can affect both the look and longevity of the surface, so we’ll confirm those choices ahead of time.

We’re excited to have the kitchen back in working order. New countertops are one of the most transformative updates you can make: they change the room’s feel, improve functionality, and often increase a home’s value. We can’t wait to share photos of the finished space once the plumbing is reconnected and the last pieces are in place.

For now, we’ll keep drooling over these pictures and daydreaming about the first meal we’ll prep on our new Pashmina counters.
