Kitchen Ideas

The Pantry

I dream of having a pretty, organized pantry—especially in the fall. My new house includes a walk-in pantry off the kitchen, but the wire shelving is basic. I’ve been collecting inspiration photos and wanted to share a few pantry ideas that caught my eye.

I have the same style of baskets shown here, and I hope to get my pantry this organized someday. They add texture and keep items contained while maintaining a uniform look.

Open shelving can make a kitchen feel welcoming and lived-in. I don’t mind seeing pantry items and dishes on display—the openness feels more “real” and less staged. If you prefer a tidier, hidden look, though, doors are a perfectly good choice.

This smaller pantry becomes a charming feature thanks to glass-front doors. The glass turns storage into design by showcasing neatly arranged containers and adds visual interest while remaining functional.

Pullout pantries are a smart solution when space is tight. They maximize vertical space and keep everything accessible, so you can see and reach items without digging through deep shelves.

I like to have a dedicated baking center. Even in a small kitchen, grouping baking ingredients and tools in one spot simplifies meal prep and keeps essentials handy. Labelled jars, trays for mixing bowls, and a designated shelf for baking sheets help maintain order.

Recently I removed the doors from several upper cabinets in my kitchen to create open shelving for dishes. The change made the room look larger and brighter without painting or remodeling. Open shelves can instantly freshen a kitchen and highlight favorite dishes or glassware.

I’m still considering other updates—like subway tile or a splash of color on the cabinets—but for now the open shelves feel homey and practical. They invite daily life into the kitchen instead of hiding it away.

A regular cabinet or a freestanding storage unit can work just as well as a built-in pantry. Freestanding units are versatile and can be moved or repurposed, which makes them a lifesaver in kitchens that need extra storage.
