Thanks to everyone who joined our Guess the DIY Blogger {The Awkward Years} giveaway yesterday! It was a lighthearted post, and we appreciate everyone who played along, laughed with us, and took a nostalgic stroll through some wonderfully awkward photos. It was fun to see so many of you reminisce — turns out we weren’t the only awkward teens back in the day.
The running joke (and a frequent question) about my own awkward photo was whether I might actually be Molly Ringwald from the 80s movie Sixteen Candles.

Thoughts? Ha — nope, I’m not Molly Ringwald. I never liked that comparison much when I was younger, though I’ll admit there’s a resemblance. Definitely not a teen actress turned blogger — just a regular person with an old photo and a sense of humor.
If matching the bloggers to their awkward photos proved tricky, you weren’t alone. Many readers did a great job spotting familiar eyes, jawlines, and other subtle features hidden beneath big hair, bold fashion, and full-on 80s styles. If you tried to match by hairstyle, that was a tougher route — those radical hairdos, including an abundance of mullets, made everyone a little harder to recognize.
There was still one person who nailed every match and was the first to submit a correct entry. Please join us in congratulating our giveaway winner:
Sara from Mom Endeavors
Sara is a blogger herself and clearly knows her DIY community. She spent much of the day balancing caring for a sick baby while methodically matching all 29 photos to their blogs — that’s true multitasking. Take a moment to congratulate Sara by leaving a comment on her blog.
