GI want every flickering candle and a warm, cozy atmosphere right now. This year has been hectic, and like many, I’m craving comforting little mood boosters.
Some time ago I added metal candle sconces to my fireplace wall and a few other spots in the house. They’ve become part of my daily routine now that evenings get dark so early. We enjoy the soft glow so much that I decided to add another distinctive set in the dining room.
I briefly considered installing hardwired sconces, but when I discovered these charming star candle holders I couldn’t resist. They’re delightful, affordable and simple to hang — the perfect addition to the dining area.
I’m especially fond of flickering candlelight at this time of year. For safety and health reasons we use battery-operated candles, and when we want fragrance we prefer essential oils over synthetic scents. I’ve found what I consider the best taper candles for realism — the flame flickers naturally and they operate with a remote. Currently I have a set in deep red in the sconces; the color is muted rather than bright. I also keep black and ivory taper candles on hand so I can change the look as needed.
Each evening, and on gloomy days, I go around the house switching on lamps and candles. The result is an undeniably cozy, comforting and romantic atmosphere.
