Welcome to my Fifth Annual Fall Nesting series!
{Fall Front Porch Decorating}
I’m so glad you’re here.
It’s hard to believe this is my fifth annual Fall Nesting series. If I’m doing a fifth-year tradition, it makes perfect sense that it centers on Fall and Nesting — two things that energize and inspire me more than almost anything related to home.
Over the past year I’ve been steadily reworking nearly every corner of my house, making both small and large changes. It has been an intense season of nesting — the kind that makes me want to call it 365 Days of Nesting. I suppose one month wasn’t enough!
But honestly, this focused nesting has been incredibly rewarding and even therapeutic.

The impact of this process shows up in the way I feel as I move through my home each day. It’s not just that rooms look nicer — though that helps — it’s the peace and sense of order that come from shaping a home that actually works for us.
I love a home that feels peaceful and creatively inspiring. Mostly, I love a home that rejuvenates and supports the life we live.
The past few years were especially demanding. Starting a church and building a business brought intense schedules and pressures that drained me more than I realized. I needed to step back from travel and speaking invitations and focus on our home for a while. That choice has meant saying no to several opportunities so I could say yes to living well where we are.

We feel blessed and at peace in this season. After years of moving, serving, and nonstop activity, it feels great to slow down, make thoughtful updates, and bring more order to our home so we can be more effective in the year ahead.
I’ll continue sharing what I’ve been working on around the house throughout the month. I’m still very much in nesting mode and excited to show how it’s all coming together. Between this year-long nesting phase and my usual fall enthusiasm, there’s plenty to share.

The goal of the Fall Nesting series is not only to inspire seasonal decorating ideas, but to encourage ways to savor this time of year and find contentment in the home and season we’re in. We may be in autumn here in the U.S., but we’re also each in different seasons of life.
If you’ve followed this blog for a while you know our story has included a year without steady work, the challenge of growing a business, months of trying to sell a house under difficult circumstances, moving to a new state, health emergencies, starting a church, and a few joyful distractions like a lively puppy named Jack. Each season demanded its own kind of nesting and a distinct approach to creating a comfortable home.
Homes may never be perfect, but an intentional attitude about making our space comfortable no matter the season can help us navigate life’s ups and downs.

Whether we’re listing “20 Little Things I Love About Fall,” arranging a seasonal centerpiece, crafting a wreath, or establishing routines, Fall Nesting is about discovering contentment and joy in the home we have right now.
During this series we’ll explore fall nesting ideas for entryways, kitchens and pantries, family rooms, dining spaces, bedrooms, and more — I expect we’ll touch on just about every room. I’ll post quick fall ideas, host a few giveaways, share updates on my projects, and yes, Jack will likely make an appearance. There’s a lot of fall and nesting happening here this month.
I hope you’ll share your seasonal stories and ideas in the comments so we can connect through this series. Fall Nesting is more fun when people share their homes and inspiration with one another. If you’re running your own fall home series, feel free to join the community link-ups so others can discover and enjoy your work.
