Because this blog is called The Inspired Room, I love sharing how artwork can spark a room’s color palette and personality. Some time ago, Lindsay of Lindsay Letters kindly sent me a beautiful canvas. I loved it so much that I designed the guest room around it. The room is nearly finished — slow progress is just how my house evolves — but the canvas has been the guiding inspiration.

The hymn that inspired the piece brings back childhood memories, and the colors feel fresh and playful, like sherbet. That palette felt perfect for a cozy guest room that needed a cheerful focal point.
I’ve previously shared part of the room — the side with the bed and bookcases — because that’s the most complete. The opposite side is still a work in progress thanks to a small hiccup: after painting an antique armoire we haven’t yet figured out how to reattach the doors. It’s a minor DIY setback, so until that’s resolved I’m showing the finished elements that are ready to enjoy.
For now I’m delighted to showcase the canvas that inspired the design. It sits across from the bed and brings light and color to the space.

I’ve admired Lindsay’s work for a long time, so it’s an honor to have one of her pieces in my home. I’m currently looking for a small bench to place under the artwork — the room is compact, so a slim bench would be a practical and pretty finishing touch.

The room feels inviting and cheerful; sometimes I want to pretend I’m a guest and spend the night. It’s a small retreat that brightens my day every time I see it.

I was pleased to discover that Lindsay offers downloadable art, too — some pieces are free and others are available for a small fee. It’s an easy way to bring beautiful, meaningful prints into a room and use them as a starting point for color and decor choices.

Her collection includes many sweet and inspiring prints that add personality without overwhelming a small space. I especially love the smaller pieces that can be grouped or used to anchor a vignette.
