Inside a Stylish Seattle Townhouse: Photo Tour & Design Ideas

Welcome to Kylee’s Seattle Townhouse tour!

Seattle Townhouse -- Small Entry Hallway

Hi friends! I’m back with another update from our Seattle townhouse. I recently shared changes in the living room and our new sofa, so today I thought I’d walk you through the rest of the house as it looks now and mention a few plans I have for future updates.

This tour is intentionally unstyled so you can see the home as it really is: a work in progress. I’ll also post behind-the-scenes photos and short videos to my Instagram stories over the next few days to show angles and details I couldn’t include here.

Our home continues to evolve. It’s a mix of handed-down pieces and items we’ve collected over time, which makes blending old and new both challenging and rewarding. I like that everything isn’t matchy-matchy; the mismatched elements give the townhouse personality.

Stairway Gallery Wall - Seattle Townhouse

The entry hasn’t changed much since I last posted, aside from a few coats and shoes now that my sister has moved out. The staircase gallery wall is mostly IKEA frames and is due for a refresh. I plan to replace a couple frames with thinner, sleeker styles and add photos of our new pup, Leo, since the wall still has a lot of pictures of Bella. Second-child photo shortage, apparently.

Townhouse Living Room

I don’t think I showed this corner with the bookshelf in my last post. I’ve had that shelf since middle school and it’s been repainted several times; it’s getting wobbly and may need replacing. The shelves could use some styling and a bit of decluttering, but I have trouble parting with books. Even though I work in a company that makes Kindles, I still love the tactile experience of paper and the possibility of rereading a favorite.

Settle Townhouse Fireplace - Before + Painted Gold Ikea Shelf

One of my least-favorite spots is this angled wall by the fireplace. The shape makes furniture layout tricky. I borrowed two charming chairs from my mom for now and placed them facing the sofa to draw attention away from the dark fireplace and TV. That shiny black fireplace next to a big black screen creates a visual void I’d rather not emphasize. I’m still brainstorming ways to soften or conceal the TV area while keeping it usable.

The gold shelf is an IKEA hack: a basic shelf spray painted gold with marble contact paper applied to the top and bottom shelves. It’s an inexpensive upgrade that added personality to the corner.

Here’s the other side of the living room for context.

Townhouse Decorating - Kitchen

Our kitchen is functional and well-built, but I’m not in love with the brown tones and the shiny black countertops that show fingerprints easily. We don’t plan to live here forever, so I’m weighing whether it’s worth investing to change those finishes. The previous owners did replace the backsplash, which improved the space a lot.

Townhouse Decorating - Kitchen Island

We don’t have room for a separate dining table, so Lance and I often eat on the sofa. Lately we’ve been making an effort to dine at the island together—it almost feels like a cozy, casual dinner spot.

Coffee Station - Seattle Townhouse

Before my sister moved out, she took her Nespresso, so the coffee cart pictured is now missing that machine. I miss the convenience of a push-button espresso, but the cart still functions well. I also try to keep more sustainable coffee pod options on hand.

Townhouse Decorating - Master Bedroom Design

The master bedroom is mid-transition. We upgraded to a king mattress recently (organic latex) and the bed now dominates the room, leaving little space for nightstands. The navy nightstands from an earlier setup went to my sister, so we’re using temporary tables while waiting for new nightstands to arrive. There’s also a new ceiling fixture waiting in a box—this will be our first time swapping a light fixture, so tips are welcome.

Once the new nightstands are in, we’ll retire the temporary lamps. I’m considering a blue lamp or a task light to coordinate with the rug and break up some of the gray in the room. I’m also debating whether to paint the walls, though I’m not a fan of painting.

Leo the Labradoodle - The Inspired Room

Leo has become the unofficial ruler of the house—hence the king-sized bed. The dogs really do run the place.

Bella the Labradoodle - The Inspired Room

Bella still finds the coziest corners and hideaways. Both pups make the house feel lived-in and loved.

He enjoys staring at himself in the mirror and lounging by the diffuser—simple pleasures.

Here are a couple snapshots of the guest bathroom. The shower curtain is a recent find and gives the space a fun, updated look.

That’s the tour for now. I didn’t include the powder room, guest room, or my sister’s former room because they’re all in transition. I’ll share updates when those spaces are ready and post more on my Instagram stories soon.

Until next time!
