It’s time to share another one of my design boards for the Your Picks. Your Place. $10,000 sweepstakes voting round. I had so much fun creating these boards—it’s inspiring to see a room come together without spending a penny or lifting a finger!
For this round I was asked to design a “traditional home office.” I don’t love being boxed in, so I bent the brief a little and created a hybrid style. Think Traditional meets Industrial and Coastal—so I’m calling it Industrial Traditional Coastal. Traditional alone felt a touch predictable, and I prefer rooms with personality.

I fell for these coastal fisherman pendant lights—Pottery Barn’s version adds just the right seaside character. Classic fixtures didn’t provide the vibe I wanted, so these pendants were the perfect twist.

I painted the room Porch Grey from Lowe’s, a soft green-gray that reads warm rather than cold. It makes a calm, neutral backdrop that complements both traditional and coastal elements without overpowering the space.

Instead of a standard desk I chose a taller project table from Pottery Barn. I love the idea of a standing-height surface where you can set up a laptop and move around—more useful for how I actually work than a traditional seated desk.

To soften the industrial edge I added woven pouf footstools, a Tolix stool for that cool metal accent, and a comfy upholstered chair. Together these pieces balance form and function and make the room inviting and livable.

I hope you like this design board—and please VOTE! Your votes help decide the winner, and I appreciate your support.

Do you make design boards to visualize a room before you start a project?
I find them incredibly helpful for organizing ideas and testing combinations before committing.
