Home Office Security: Protect Your Workspace and Data

Recently someone asked if I still use my home office. Yes—I do. As my business has grown, so has the need for dedicated workspace, and we use this room often.

Over the past year I’ve made a few updates to the office and I have more ideas for improvements. I’ll share more changes on the blog soon, but today I want to highlight an important new feature in the room.

Although our house is modest in size and we usually live mainly on the main floor, having this lower level office has been incredibly helpful.

We always have creative projects happening downstairs, and I love that at the end of the day I can walk upstairs and leave the mess—or “work”—behind.

One thing I don’t leave behind is the desire to feel safe. Even when I’m upstairs or traveling across the country, I care about the security of our home.

Last year we installed HomeHawk exterior cameras around our home’s perimeter, and we remain very happy with them. The system brings real peace of mind, so when I was invited to try another HomeHawk product, I was eager to test it.

This time I tried the HomeHawk FLOOR—an interior lamp that doubles as a wireless monitoring camera. It blends into the decor while providing reliable monitoring thanks to a 1080p Full HD camera, color night vision, and a 140-degree diagonal wide view.

I love the FLOOR lamp more than I expected. Using Bluetooth technology, it connects to Panasonic’s HomeHawk app so I can view live or recorded footage from my smartphone no matter where I am. That capability is very comforting.

Whether I’m home alone, our kids are housesitting, or we’re out of town, I feel better knowing I can check on the house and the people I care about. The app lets you record and review footage, which is useful if anything unusual occurs and needs later review.

The HomeHawk FLOOR’s wide viewing angle keeps my entire office and the exterior door in frame, so even our Goldendoodle Jack can’t get away with mischief—like sneaking in to grab cardboard tubes we save for mailings.

Sorry, Jack—now we can always see what you did.

We also use the portable SHELF camera in our dining room. The SHELF is compact, sleek, and easy to place almost anywhere. It includes a privacy feature so you can temporarily turn it off when needed.

This portable camera monitors our entry hall and dining room, so it will catch any pet or person who decides to sneak a snack from the table.

Beyond the occasional household antics, I appreciate being able to monitor my home and those I love from wherever I am.

Our home should be a safe place, and this additional layer of security matters a great deal to me.

If you’re interested in a HomeHawk home monitoring camera, look into the FLOOR and SHELF options and consider features like app access, night vision, wide-angle viewing, and privacy controls. These tools helped us feel more secure at home and made it easier to keep an eye on daily life and travel with confidence.
