Holiday Decorating Push: Finish Home Projects Before the Season Ends

Remember back in February when I shared progress on a project in our son’s bathroom? It’s been nearly a year since I started, and in case you were wondering, you still haven’t seen the finished room. That’s because I’m not quite finished.

Well, I’m basically done.

Almost done, that is—except for the paint on the mirror. Yes, really. A year later there’s still paint on the mirror. That small detail is the only thing keeping me from calling the bathroom completely finished.

Cleaning that mirror is all it would take to be “done enough.” The bathroom isn’t perfect and there are more tweaks I could make, but before the holidays I’d like to be able to say it’s finished enough to share.

I might even manage to take pictures in a couple of weeks if I can add “take photos” to my to‑do list.

Do you have projects like that? Ones you started and are almost finished but need a small push to cross the line? Now is a great time to make a short list of last‑minute tasks to complete before the holidays — especially for main rooms like the kitchen, guest bath, or living areas.

I’m not suggesting you begin a whole new project now (although I’m guilty of starting projects around the holidays). I do my best work under pressure. For example, last November I decided to repaint our dining room, and earlier years brought other last‑minute fixes and surprises.

Holidays and gatherings are powerful motivators to wrap things up. Let’s use that energy to finish what we can before guests arrive.

Do you work best under pressure?
