Unique Christmas Tree Ideas

I enjoy decorating small trees with unexpected accents. I don’t spend hours on them, but it’s fun to try something different. Last year I decorated the dining room tree with my mom’s silver spoons.

This season I added some of my grandmother’s jewelry to a little tree. I kept the process simple and used pieces that were easy to find—some are heirloom pieces, and others are affordable costume jewelry. The mix gives the tree a warm, eclectic look.

Photographing delicate jewelry on branches can be tricky, so I included a few close-up shots to show the details. Alongside necklaces and brooches, we tucked in small treasures like a brass whistle to add charm and character.

Using jewelry as ornaments creates a subtle, vintage-inspired effect that works well on small tabletop trees or tucked into garlands. The metallic tones catch the lights, while smaller pendants and chains add texture without overwhelming the branches.

And for fun, here is my large tree and a few of the ornaments I’m loving this year. Mixing heirloom pieces with simple store-bought items makes the overall display feel personal and collected over time.

Thanks for stopping by to see my tree! I’m enjoying all the virtual Christmas tours this season—it’s inspiring to see so many creative approaches to holiday decor.

Sharing in seasonal decorating events is a great way to gather new ideas and celebrate different styles. Happy decorating!
